The mayor warmly welcomed all students and told them about the Cultural Capital 2018. After short speech of Mr. Crone, students took a group picture with him. There was a small but a perfect surprise waiting for students. Mayor invited all students to a free tour at the top of the symbolic tower of Leeuwarden, Oldehove. After the tour, students enjoyed a dinner with special Dutch cuisine.

Good meeting
An exchange student from Turkey, Birdem Ongun, who studies Teacher Training at NHL University said: ,,It was a good meeting. The idea to come together with international students is really great. It shows how municipality gives importance to all opinions of people who live in Leeuwarden. Yet, there could be more specific things about ‘today’. Most of the things were about next year.”

Yummy
Another student from India, Sevya Pande, who studies Multimedia and Communication Design at NHL University shared with us: ,,I feel, it was really cool to organise the meeting. The speech was welcoming and nice too. Also, pancakes were yummy. I loved to go on top of the Oldehove. The city looked beautiful up there. It’s a good idea to have a meeting with the mayor. I felt important and recognised.”

Night ended with a nice pancake dinner in a ship-restaurant at one of the canals.
