Lena Lötzer from Germany – YourPost’s DNA

My name is Lena Lötzer, I am 22 years old and from a small village in Germany. After finishing high school, I went to New Zealand for a year. In New Zealand, I grooved my English language skills, immersed myself in a different culture, and met people with various backgrounds from all over the world. The international atmosphere impressed me so much that I decided to study abroad. This is how I came to Leeuwarden three years ago.

For me Leeuwarden is very special, as it is the place where I had my first own flat, where I have started to prepare for my future working live, and where I made friendships that will last for a lifetime. Furthermore, here I have experienced many ups but also downs of which I had to tackle all by myself. However, what I particularly like about Leeuwarden is that it is a small city that has a lot to offer. There are always students bustling around the city and especially in spring once it gets warmer and the sun comes out, the inhabitants of Leeuwarden peek out of their frontdoors and gather in the many cafes and bars along the canals. Personally, I also consider the places along the canals as my favourite places in Leeuwarden because sitting at the waterfront in the sun makes busy studentlife just so much better!

YourPost has also become a place I really enjoy going to. The meetings on Wednesday morning are easygoing and joyful and so is the team. Moreover, I relish writing stories about people from Leeuwarden to circulate what this city has to offer and motivate readers to convince themselves of it.

YourPost is a press office for civil journalism. Volunteers, students and professionals together tell stories about Leeuwarden and Fryslân and the people who live there. With the aim of showing the special character of the region. This in the run-up to Leeuwarden-Fryslân 2018. Who forms YourPost’s DNA?
