I am studying at Stenden University and I have to travel every day from Groningen to Leeuwarden due to the fact my school is placed in this city. I do not know Leeuwarden very well as I am not living in Leeuwarden. But, I am interested in discovering Leeuwarden as this city is going to be Europe Cultural Capital in 2018.
It is interesting for me that this city embraced lots of national and international students by providing them with different activities and possibilities to enjoy their student life in this city.
The Oldehove is the place I like the most in Leeuwarden. It is a leaning tower that became the symbol of the city. The city of Leeuwarden had just become the capital of Fryslân and most of the locals even say, they are proud of this tower. Moreover, I am interested in art and architect and I found this tower amazing as it is curve and not straight which, so it added more value to the architecture. It seems there is a similarity between the Oldehove and the famous tower in Italy.
