Hundreds of Santa Clauses in the city center during the Santa Run [2]
On Saturday 22ndof December, the city center of Leeuwarden will be colored even more in red than it usually would during Christmas time. A legion of hundreds of Santa Clauses will make their way through the small streets for the annual Santa Run of 2½ kilometers. The proceeds of the run and the accompanying afterparty, will go to TOF Vakanties this year, a charity that organizes holidays for people with a mental disability. More

Priceless ice skating fun thanks to Santa Run [1]
The Saturday before Christmas will be just as fun as last year in Leeuwarden. The Santa Run will take place again! A legion of hikers, runners, people with rollators and wheelchairs – all dressed as Santa Claus – will festively march through the city. All for charity. The City Greenhouse as festival heart at the Oldehoofsterkerkhof
During the cultural city festival ‘Explore the North’ a real Stadskas – a town greenhouse – was erected at the Oldehoofsterkerkhof. Inside you could drink or eat something. Next to this glass house was a gigantic picture exhibition to marvel at. The photos portrayed moments from the whole year of Leeuwarden Cultural Capital. More
Leeuwarden and the magical LUNA Festival
At the end of November, during Explore the North, as part of the ReOpening Festival of the European Cultural Capital event Leeuwarden-Fryslân 2018, the city center was the stage and enchanting backdrop for national and international light artists and designers who literally put the city in a different light. With the help of a tour, it was possible to explore all the hidden places and learn something about the artist and the artwork.
