Five years ago Linda Eitelhuber started to organise Games Night as a couch surfing event. By now, the event is more popular amongst Dutch and international students as well. As the organiser, Linda, is not Dutch herself either, she emphasises that language is not a problem, all internationals are more than welcome to join and have a fantastic time with great people.
What the event is about.
The concept of the event, as the name suggests, is people meeting up to play with different kind of games, from card games to the most exciting board games, anything. You can take your own games with you, but even if you do not have any, you can just join Games Night and have fun. Spending a few hours on playing games makes you forget about your busy live for a while and makes you relax.
You might think that the main aspect of this event is playing games, however it also helps you with a lot of other things. For instance, you can develop yourself and your skills by playing these games in a nice, cosy atmosphere. It is scientifically proved that board games help people improve their memory, cognitive skills, logic, problem solving skills and has many more positive effects. You can also improve your social skills as gathering up to play games is a great way to socialise and meet new people. Even if you do not know each other, you can spend a lovely time together playing games, laughing and enjoying some delicious drinks from Paddy’s.
Why wouldn’t you join?
If you do not want to spend Sundays with binge-watching or being lazy at home, go to Paddy’s and check out the fun Games Night event. You do not speak Dutch? Not a problem. You do not have your own games? Not a problem. You do not know anybody there? Again, not a problem.
