Huize Bacchus

Pepijn Jehee is the 25 years old chairman of S.V. Huize Bacchus, a student association based in Leeuwarden that started only two years ago. The association allows people to meet new people from different study programs and colleges all around Leeuwarden. It started when Pepijn and his friends frequently went to ‘Shooters’, a bar in Leeuwarden. There was a big group of students around him that wanted to join a student association, so they started one themselves. More

NØRD

When hearing the name NØRD most people think of Scandinavia but in Leeuwarden, it means something else. NØRD is a beautiful café and concept store in the Sint Jacobsstraat. The store first opened its doors in March 2018 after Gerard and Suus, the owners moved to Leeuwarden from Amsterdam. The couple decided to start their own business in Leeuwarden because they “saw potential in the city” with it being the cultural capital of the year. Before opening, there were no other places with the same idea of inviting their customers to stay a bit longer and enjoy a good cup of coffee before or after browsing the assortment of sustainable and local products.

YourPost’s DNA: Annika Ehbrecht from Germay

My name is Annika, I am currently 20 years old and from Germany. I grew up in a small town, Göttingen, which is in the middle of Germany, and to me, it seems to have a similar flair to Leeuwarden, except that there are hills there. For a while now I have been living in Oldenburg, which is further in the north and only 3 hours by train from here. More

YourPost’s DNA: Lisa Saager from Germany

Hallo! My name is Lisa and I’m 19 years old. I come from the very north of Germany, near Kiel and about two months ago I moved to Leeuwarden to study here. Half a year ago I decided on studying Creative Business at NHL Stenden and I’ll presumably stay here for about 4 years until I finish my Bachelors Degree. I chose to come to Leeuwarden because of the university that offers degrees I couldn’t find similarly at any German university. Furthermore, I decided on the Netherlands because I have always been interested in speaking a lot of English and having a lot of international possibilities in the future. More

More than just soccer

Everyone in and around Leeuwarden knows about Cambuur Leeuwarden. The local football club with an iconic stadium and her loyal supporters based in Leeuwarden for more than 50 years. But there is more to Cambuur than just the players. No, there are the supporters who form the spine of the club and are always present. Whether it’s going good or bad or whether the weather is nice or not. Today I sat down with Johan De Vries a board member and co-founder of the supporters club called: ‘Cambuur Culture’.

Stay-Fit: A personal touch to the next level

There is a gym in Leeuwarden which is not owned by big brands but by two people with a love for fitness. A gym where people go alone but end up drinking a protein shake or a cup of coffee together with each other. And while this place is really friendly and social it’s main goal, of course, is to work out hard and stay fit. Welcome to Stay-Fit!
